We broke Ben’s birthday up into three events: dinner the night before, party at the daycare on his PNG birthday, birthday breakfast and opening gifts on the day after (his American birthday). I used to get migraines on every birthday as a kid….so I have learned to make a week out of a birthday “just in case”.
On December 29th, Ben woke up to birthday pancakes. After that, we let him open his birthday presents. We bought this Fisher Price train set over a year ago at the Raleigh Kids Exchange….with the plan to give it to Ben on his 3rd birthday. We paid next to nothing for it, but were surprised at how much fun he has already had with it. It has a remote control train and the tracks are easy enough for him to put them all together himself.
Another great day and memories made….Ben LOVES birthdays almost as much as Christmas!
I know that I am nuts…..but we are planning a joint birthday party for him in January and his friend Chaddy who turns 2. Chaddy’s parents are hostel parents…..they take care of the kids who have to live in the hostel during the school terms because their parents are translators on the field. Anyway, they have a slip and slide that goes down the side of a small mountain! Also, this slip and slide is more like a rubber tire or huge tarp than an actual slip and slide. If you use a couple of hoses and some dish soap….instant crowd pleaser. The them will be Blizzard Birthday……more on that when the party gets started.
