WORD!!!!

We got a package from our college friend Word and his fiancé Steph.  We LOVE packages….but this one was extra special because it just shows that we have such an amazing group of friends and family supporting us from all over.  Caleb and Word were roommates in college. (I am pretty sure I have a picture of the two of them wearing chef hats while defrosting their freezer with a knife and a hair dryer….as dripping water was pooling around their feet….ahhh….college memories.)

 

Anyway, as soon as we arrived in Ukarumpa, Word contacted us and asked what we wanted or needed.  He told us that he had sent a package to friends of his who served as missionaries in Poland….so he expected the list to be random….but understood that we could really use “those things you just can’t get here.  And, we did not disappoint…our list was REALLY random….which he commented on in his e-mail by saying, “Hahahahahahahhaha!!!! Awwwwwwwwwweeeeeeeeeeeesome!!!!!!!! I love that the list starts with a leather belt and ends with lucky charms!”  It was just really nice to get things that we wanted….and not feel like we had to explain them.

 

Also, Word is a huge soccer fan….so he stuck some South Africa World Cup gear into the box. YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  We have been busting our butts for the past two weeks to tape all the games that people are interested in (and there are A LOT since there are so many nationalities represented here).  Then, we have been showing them every night at the High School.  We have put a lot of work into this month-long event….and it was SO nice to get a world Cup shirt and replica ball.  Now….I just have to learn how to make those vuvuzelas (stadium horn/plastic trumpet thing).

 

Anyway….here are pictures of us opening the package.  Unfortunately, we only got one of the two packages that Word and Steph sent to us.  We are hoping to get the other one next week.  The package is probably in PNG already.  The problem is that a plane only comes here to Ukarumpa once a week. Grrr….
