Charlotte to Raleigh to Fuquay-Varina to Wilmington....in Pictures

My little brother Philip is not so little anymore...and we were able to see him off to college!  Here are pictures from the day we spent with him at UNCC.

In the picture below, you will see that Beach Grammy offered to carry Ben some.  You should have seen the look on his face.  He loved being spoiled by the grandparents. :)

Poor Philip, in the picture below he is probably thinking, "When will they leave???"  BUT, I had a right to embarrass him because he was LITTLE when I moved into my dorm room...and he and Scottie were EVERYWHERE (much like Ben and Mel would be now)....so this was a little payback embarrassment...

After UNCC, we headed to Raleigh again.  Caleb needed to go through some of our boxes that were being stored at Joe and Amy's...and they willingly put us up for the night so that we could go to our home church Grace Community once more.  Ben got to spend some more time with his BFF, John!  They are only like one week a part in age....

Then, we headed to Fuquay Varina to stay with our friends Brandon and Kelli.  They are friends from our college days and were the first ones to offer us a place to live when we returned.  They said we could stay with them as long as we needed....and the offer still stood when they found out that they were expecting TWINS!

They have two girls one older and one younger than Ben, so he had so much fun playing with them.  I am pretty sure that their favorite game to play was Little Mermaid.  Ben was King Triton and Maddie was Ariel.  Sometimes I think that poor Camryn was a shark.

So, we stayed with them for two weeks.  It was the most stressful yet most relaxing time yet.  Let me explain.

We arrived on a Sunday night and on Tuesday, Caleb flew off to Colorado for his job interviews.  Since Brandon was working that week, Kelli and I went to visit with her parents and grandparents at their family beach house....which, if you have been following my blog for years, you know this is the mother-of-all beach houses.  I think they recently named it Seaside Sanctuary, and it is such a fitting name. It was nice to be with her family who in a way feel like my family...especially while Caleb was gone.

Then, when Caleb returned, it was time to "wait".  The week was a week of highs and lows and then ultimately highs when we realized that we were going to be able to move to Fort Collins, CO.

I didn't have much time to take pictures....my stomach was so wound up in knots....it is a bit of a blur even now.  But, being with Brandon and Kelli was the best.  God knew that we would need them during this time.

So, when we found out that we were going to be moving for good, we realized that we needed to see our families one more time before making the move.  We left Fuquay a bit early and traveled back to Wilmington for an extended stay.  Here are the pictures from that time...

Ben caught a SHARK!

Ben screaming....

Beach Grandpa screaming...

Caleb screaming.....

Ok, Caleb NOT screaming.

Mel did not like wearing her life vest...

But, she didn't mind it as a pillow:

Ben saved Beach Grandpa's hat:

Beach Grammy soaked up LOTS of snuggle time with the kids.

To this day, Ben still asks, "When are we going to go back on Beach Grandpa's boat?"

Before we left we took dad out to breakfast by the water...it was the worst dining experience for me to date.  These are the pictures BEFORE we all noticed the COCKROACH ON OUR TABLE.  I about threw up.  Couldn't even finish my awful meal....if you are in Wilmington, NEVER go to Causeway Cafe.  I still have to slam them on Yelp...

Here are some pictures of the garden stone that Mel made for Beach Grammy.  She has one of Ben, and needed a matching one for Mel.  Beach Grandpa didn't read the directions and tried to pick up the thing before it was dry and erased everything we did the first time.  This is take two and luckily for him, it turned out nicely. :)
