Our New Place....Part 2- Inside

I'm sorry, but I tried to post these pictures a couple of days ago but the internet was being REALLY slow. When I find myself getting frustrated over things like this, I just have to remind myself how good we have it here when it comes to technology and the ability to stay connected with friends and family back home.

Here are a few pictures of the inside of the house where we will live for the next year. It is a lot of space....probably a little too much space than what we need at this time. But, we were living in an apartment style house....and it will be nice once the baby comes to not have to worry about the neighbors hearing our little one crying in the middle of the night. Also, it is really going to save us money to be living in this house instead of in the apartment. We are so thankful for the generosity of the family who owns this house. We are looking after their house and their animals while they are in the States....and in return we got a deal on the rent. Praise!!

Here is a picture of the front door/entry way. Here in PNG, it is really great to have a "mud" room. During rainy and even sometimes during dry season, you get covered in mud walking around center....not to mention Ben is exploring that involves getting really dirty most days!

Here is a picture of the living room area. Check out the fireplace. In the mornings, it gets pretty cold here. Once the sun comes out, it warns right up.....but especially this time of year, we are loving having a fire place!

This is a picture where I am standing in the living room and looking behind the couch. The kitchen is straight ahead, the door to the backyard is to the right and the office and bedrooms are to the left and down the long hall.

Above- notice the blue trashcans...this is our water filtration system. We filter all our water here!
Below: Here is a picture of one half of the kitchen.

Here is a picture of the other half. The view outside those windows is truly breathtaking.

The house has a nice sized office which is really nice. This picture doesn't really do it justice because there is more to the left which you can't see here.

There is a long hallway with a door at the front. This is a really good security measure to have in a house. i would not want to live in a house here where my bedrooms were separated or the living room or office was really close to the bedrooms. If your house gets broken into, there is a really good chance that the criminals just want your things....your electronics and such. Having a door separating the bedrooms is really nice because at least all your things are on one side of the house and the chances of you seeing a "raskol" are slim. Living in a house is less secure than the apartment we gave up. Though we do not live in fear, it is the reality of the security situation here.

The bathroom- the shower is to the right behind the door...you just can't see it.

The master bedroom:

Ben actually has two rooms right across from each other. One to sleep in:

And one to play in:

We have two extra bedrooms. This one has a TV behind the door and it is where Ben will relax and watch movies some days.

That's all the pictures I took....more posts to come about other things.....soon....do you believe me??? I am trying to do better! :)
