We have a friend here who works in literacy. She comes and goes from Ukraumpa center. She will stay a couple weeks or months in the village where she works, then return to Ukarumpa for courses and some down time. Whenever she is about to head back out to the village, she has to go through the long process of packing for her time there. When we went through our Orientation Course (the 14-week in country course), we got a little taste of what it must be like to have to plan for 5 weeks in the village and pack everything you need before you go.
Joy asked if I would mind helping her out by making a bunch of granola for her. It is one thing off her long list of things to do and a really easy thing for me. Plus, Ben absolutely loves cooking projects....probably because he knows when we are done he can lick the bowls and spoons.
Here are some pictures of Ben and I making A LOT of granola one morning. It really was a lot of fun and such an easy way to help out fellow missionaries here on center. Joy has a blog, so feel free to check it out (http://joyellen.wordpress.com) and pray for her and what is next for her life....God has been using her to do so much here in PNG, but she is cmoing to a point where she has to make a decision (with God's help) of what to do next....

What recipe did you use? I've never made my own granola...but would like to try. I have a great 3yo sous chef who like Ben always loves to help!
