The ninth challenge was my favorite. We had to learn a dance to Eye of the Tiger. Once we learned it, we had to perform it while judges “graded” us. As you can see from the first three pictures, I had a little too much fun! I really like to dance now. So, I got a bit carried away with the air guitar move. Also, do you see all our vans? They all stood on the opposite side watching us learn the dance and the perform it. We got a 39/40 for a score! Not too bad!
After that, our tenth challenge had something to do with hoops…..and I totally thought it had to do with hula hoops. Should have known it was talking about basketball hoops! We chose Maggie to do the hula hoop…and she about freaked when she saw it was shooting 3-pointers. She had a certain amount of time to make 10 baskets. At the halfway mark, she had made 1. But, she figured it out and by the time was out, she had shot 9! Everyone watching was really sheering our team on. J Sorry….no picture of this.
Our 11th challenge was ALL the way on the other side of center. Once we got there, we were a bit cross with the pit stop people because the game rules were not explained very well. But, once we figured out how to do it, we made up time. We had to search all over the yard for bags with orange pieces of paper inside. The paper had to have words on it, so if we got blanks, we had to keep looking for more. Once we got the words, we had to act out the words using charades. At one point, I got the word “Dazzle”. How do you act out dazzle? Luckily I could find another one and just act that one out instead.
Our last challenge was a backyard golf course. This was MUCH harder than it looked. At this point we weren’t very good at listening or reading directions. If you hit the ball into the flower bed, you had to start over. We thought we would have to take a penalty….but the pit stop people told us that if we took the penalty, we would have been the only team so far who did NOT make it. That motivated us! J We made it in the next shot….they were counting down the seconds as Maggie put the ball into the hole using a move that was more like a hockey move than an allowed miniature gold move. She practically dragged it in the last possible second but they let it stand.
After that, we rushed to the finish line. See picture above. We had no idea what place we were in. We felt like we were doing OK, but there were 20 teams……we had to wait around for all the other teams to come in. Our second SMACK team came back and we were there to greet them.
